Irfahan holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and a master’s degree in medical statistics from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. He joined the group in mid-2015 following a 1.5-year stint as a research assistant at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, Canada where he applied novel analytical approaches to identify genetic and epigenetic determinants of chronic cardiovascular diseases and risk factors. Broadly, his interests are in the development of statistical methodologies to better understand human genetic variation. His research project involves understanding differences in gene expression variability across sexes.
